And Gladeus, we can't end it yet. I mean, I get lower participation, but without contests, all hope for inspiration is lost, except for the few who make other stuff anyway.
If you want to keep running contests, that's good for community spirit.
I on the other hand, don't have it in me any more. If I can't even score above 6 (let alone 3) against first place which should technically be disqualified (as it's not a hero per say), an entry with no sprites, or an entry that didn't have any actual magical abilities (unless you count holy or spiritual effects as magical) then I give up.
At this point it's a popularity contest augmented by how lazy the rules are. I wish I could be more positive about this but there's nothing funny about what a joke this is.
Admittedly, you're not wrong about this contest. Honestly, I could have policed it a little better like we used to, but as the rest of the more recent contests have shown, getting any participation is often pretty difficult. Perhaps it was just the fact that the holidays were insanely busy for me, perhaps I was just happy to see a wide variety of entries again. Either way, you are correct that it didn't end up being a complete enforcement of the rules in all regards, and while I can't really fix that retroactively, I can try to work a little harder on it in the future.
Although, to be fair, we did keep the definition of magic pretty ambiguous for this challenge to promote participation. If that was Dr. Strange style, spiritual/religious, magical artifacts or just abilities augmented with magic, it was more about the inspiration than guidelines.
